Thanks for your interest in becoming a Student Change Agent Coalition Leader.


Campus Compact believes in, and invests in, the power of student voice and leadership. The only thing better than one outstanding student voice standing up for the issues and change they believe in is a chorus of student voices coming together to do the same.


After a pilot program in the Spring, Campus Compact is now launching nationwide Student Change Agent Coalitions (SCAC), a student-run, community of practice opportunity where students from across the country can come together and connect around issues, methods of change, and common themes to allow their collective work—and voices—to be that much stronger.


Each Coalition will be limited to 15-20 members per coalition and will be required to meet at least 6 times on average across a semester (average bi-weekly). The group will also be tasked with collectively producing some form of resource that future students can also use going forward. Coalitions will be led by two selected student leaders per SCAC who will be paid a stipend of $1,000 each per semester. SCAC leaders can be in undergraduate or graduate programs, but must be a student during the semester they lead their coalition. 


Campus Compact staff will support SCAC leaders throughout the semester to provide each Coalition leader and staff member with technical and logistical support as well as regular check-ins with each Coalition leader.


In the following application, students can vote on existing Coalition proposals and/or submit their Coalition proposal idea and why they feel they are the best candidate to lead the conversation. Students do not need to be an expert on the topic they propose but must be willing to do the necessary research and preparation to lead each session. A select number of student leaders and proposals will be accepted, and then a general call will be made available to all students this fall to sign up to join one or more coalitions.


Applicants will be considered based on the students' prior experience in the topic or area, documented evidence or reasoning of interest in the topic or conversation, and a clear vision for the focus of the group and each session.


Students interested in leading a Student Change Agent Coalition must apply by Friday, August 28th at 11:59 P.M. EST. This is a Compact member-only benefit.

There will be 5 different issue areas or topics chosen to form 5 different Student Change Agent Coalitions for the semester. Each coalition will be led by two student leaders and will be made up of 15-20 students each. Examples of past issues include: climate change, immigration, burnout, nonprofit leadership, and civic education.

Campus Compact has provided a list of initial potential topics below. If the topic or issue you want to lead is not mentioned, please include your idea under the 'additional idea' section. Our selection panel may take that idea into consideration for the selection of the semester's five Student Change Agent Coalition topics.

You may indicate interest in leading more than one SCAC topic, but please note that you will be only chosen to lead 1 SCAC if chosen. If you have only one topic you want to lead, choose only that option. If you choose multiple, be sure to talk about both topics in your answers below.
